Security increases at the California Rodeo Salinas

The California Rodeo Salinas continues to grow and so does the security.

“I’ve seen it change from a rather small security detail to a rather large one that runs year round now,” said Director of Security Bob Eggers.

Over the next three days, over 50,000 people will make their way through the gates. Security will be at the forefront.

“We have a security committee and work with Salinas PD, and so we have a lot in place to ensure our fans have a good experience,” said Mandi Lindquist of the California Rodeo Association

Security volunteers, law enforcement and private security will be at the event each night.

“Without giving away numbers and explaining all we do, I would just want people to know there’s plenty of us and we’re ready for anything that might occur,” said Eggers.

Director of Security Bob Eggers has been doing this since 1995, he says security continues to tighten.

“Security starts preparing long before the gates open up. There are assets to protect, security around the clock 24-hrs a day. I’m in constant coordination with Salinas PD and of course the fire department,” said Eggers.

Part of newly tightened security came in the form of creating a comprehensive emergency response plan.

“So I would work hand in hand with police and fire in the event something should happen that require a immediate massive response of resources to deal with whatever the issue might be,” said Eggers.
