Hollister police officer catches falling dog

Dog is man’s best friend, but that relationship goes both ways.

On Tuesday, Animal Care and Services received a report of a small Shih Tzu dog on a second-story window ledge on the 200 block of Gibson Drive. Hollister Police Officers Melgoza and Tong also also responded to the call. Witnesses reported the dog, later identified as Sophie, had been stuck on the ledge for hours and they were afraid it would jump or fall.

While the officers tried calling the dog’s owner, she stumbled and fell from the window ledge.

Officer Tong sprang into action and was able to catch Sophie before she hit the ground. She was not hurt and was reunited with her owner several hours later.
