Two people arrested for a string of car thefts in Santa Cruz County

Two people are in jail accused of stealing cars in Santa Cruz County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Jose Arroyo and Miguel Angel Rocha-Fernandez are connected to at least 11 car thefts. Most of the vehicles were stolen out of Watsonville and belonged to farm workers.

Officers found three of the stolen vehicles on Harkins Slough Road Sunday morning.

Arroyo and Rocha-Fernandez were later arrested.

They are both now in the Santa Cruz County Jail facing several charges including driving without a driver’s license, car theft, car burglary, drugs with intent to sell, vandalism and arson.

Investigators are also looking into seven other reported vehicle thefts in the area over the past week.
