Pot farm busted on UC Santa Cruz property

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies busted an illegal marijuana growing operation July 15 on property belonging to U.C. Santa Cruz.

According to a press release, the pot farm was located on land along Mt. Hamilton and Kincaid Road in unincorporated Santa Clara County.

During the operation, deputies arrested one suspect and seized an assault rifle. The weapon was stolen from the Sacramento area and was loaded with steel penetrating tip ammunition.

Officials with the Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Eradication Team have busted five illegal growing operations in 2016 and seized over 28,350 plants with an estimated street value of $33 million.
