Seaside shooting suspect arrested

UPDATE 7/11/16 1:37 PM: Detectives with the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team arrested Ramon Velasquez, 32, of Seaside on July 9, 2016. Velasquez was taken into custody without incident at his job in Pebble Beach and booked at the Monterey County Jail on charges of attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $1,000,000.

PREVIOUS STORY: Seaside Police are looking for a man who fired a gun Wednesday evening around 5:30 p.m. near the 1500 block of Noche Buena Street.

According to a press release, officers responded to a report of a Hispanic man who fired a shot from a pickup truck. The intended victim was not injured, but police found a car in the 1200 block of Elm Avenue that had been struck by gunfire.

Detectives with the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT) are handling the investigation and ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Seaside Police Department. Their anonymous tip line is (831) 899-6282.
