Arrest warrant issued in 2015 murder

Monterey Peninsula detectives have issued a $2,000,000 arrest warrant for Edson Villanueva, 20, of Seaside, who faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

Villanueva and a second man, Edward Rodriguez, are wanted in connection with the March 15, 2015 murder of Khaleel Johnson. Johnson was shot to death while riding in a car traveling on Highway 1, just north of Canyon Del Rey. The driver of the vehicle was also shot and survived his injuries.

A third suspect, Daniel Bello-Perez, 19, of Seaside, was arrested June 1, 2016 on numerous charges including the murder of Johnson, the attempted murder of the driver, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, conspiracy, and gang enhancements.

He was booked into the Monterey County Jail and his bail was set at $3,030,000.

Both Villanueva and Rodriguez are fugitives.
