One person dead after car collides with ATV in Greenfield

UPDATE 7/8/16 4:10 PM: A King City man is dead after driving his Honda ATV into the path of a car on a private farm road near Lagomarsino Road and Central Avenue in Greenfield. It happened Friday around 5:55 a.m..

The CHP says Eleazar Garrafa Mundo, 31, was killed when he drove the ATV out of a row of grapes and was struck by a Honda Accord driven by Israel Hernandez Fijar, 29, of Salinas. Both men were employed as vineyard workers at the Arroyo Loma #1 farm west of Highway 1 in Greenfield.

The CHP says although it was daylight, visibility was restricted by rows of grapes and neither driver saw the other. Mundo, who was working in the vineyards, pulled out from between rows of grapes and was struck by Hernandez Fijar as he arrived to work. No charges will be filed against Hernandez Fijar.

The case will be investigated by the Agricultural unit of Cal/OSHA.

It happened just after 6:00 a.m. Friday morning in the area of Lagomarsino Road and Central Avenue.

According to California Highway Patrol, a car and ATV collided. One person died shortly after.
