Tight security measures in place for Hollister Independence Rally

Hollister Police officials said officers are continuously patrolling downtown and surrounding areas this weekend along with monitoring city cameras.

Firefighters are on hand for medical emergencies and a field hospital is set up nearby.

“We obviously are looking for folks that have drank (sic) a little too much,” said Hollister Police Chief David Westrick. “Folks that may be bringing in weapons of course, any disturbances. “We’re trying to prevent problems before they become big problems.”

Police said they have had to make several arrests for alcohol violations.
