Victims of Orlando nightclub murders remembered in Watsonville

Watsonville’s LGBT community held a vigil Sunday night to remember the victims of the mass murders at an Orlando, Florida nightclub.

Organizers told KION that they will continue their work to gain acceptance for the LGBT community and will not back down in the face of violence.

“While we’ve progressed so much in the country for the rights of the LGBT community, we have so much work to do,” said Nahum Rivera, vice president of Somos LGBT.

The group will continue its nightly vigil at Watsonville City Plaza for the rest of the week.
