2 local water polo players make US national teams

A couple local kids are making some big waves in the pool! Eighth-grader Josh Poulos and high school freshman Gabe Discipulo have both made huge waves in the water polo world. Josh was invited to join the US National Development Water Polo Team while Gabe made the US National Cadet Team.

Both boys beat out over 500 water polo players from around the country to do that. They are now looking forward to the international competition.

“I was just excited and wanted to learn more and keep going…gives me a ton of exposure to coaches around the country and internationally,” said Josh.

“It’s a big honor to represent my country in international play and it’s cool to know that there’s not a lot of us,” said Gabe.

The two will play in domestic and international tournaments throughout the summer with the US teams. Josh and his team will play South Africa in San Diego in June while gabe will travel to Hungary to compete in May.
