Watsonville woman located: not kidnapped

UPDATE 4/15/16 5:31 PM: Watsonville Police detectives located Perla Fernandez around 4:30 Friday afternoon at a residence in Watsonville. Officers say she is in good health and was not kidnapped.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Watsonville Police Department is looking for a 33-year-old woman who was reportedly kidnapped in the city Friday.

It happened just before noon in the area of Main Street and West Lake Avenue. Police said Perla “Rocio” Luna Fernandez was inside a car when a man in a truck pulled up, grabbed her, threw her inside and took off.

A witness who was inside the car Fernandez was in before she was taken, described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 30’s wearing a black shirt, with a full beard and had black curly hair. The truck was described as a 2000 Ford Model, silver quad cab with black rims. The suspect was seen driving westbound towards Rodriguez Street.

Investigators are actively searching the area. Information has been passed down to surrounding agencies. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Watsonville Police Department at 831-768-3350 or leave an anonymous tip on the tip line at 831-728-3544.
