20-year-old shot multiple times in Salinas drive-by shooting

A 20-year-old Hispanic man was shot multiple times Thursday night, according to the Salinas Police Department.

At about 6:10 p.m., police said the victim was sitting in his car on Van Buren Avenue near Jackson Street when he was approached by another vehicle. A passenger pulled out a gun and fired multiple times striking the 20-year-old.

Police said the suspects took off and the victim drove to a nearby home. That’s where officers found him.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting is being investigated as gang-related.
