UPDATE: 24-year-old man shot multiple times in Watsonville Tuesday night

UPDATE 10:50 PM: A Hispanic man who was shot Tuesday night is not cooperating with law enforcement, according to the Watsonville Police Department.

Just after 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Prospect and Lincoln Streets. Upon arrival, police said officers found evidence of a shooting but no witness.

Officers later learned the 24-year-old victim was taken to Watsonville Community Hospital in a private vehicle. Police said he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The occupants of the vehicle nor the victim were cooperative with officers.

Police said based on evidence and witness statements, the victim was walking in the area of Prospect street and Freedom Boulevard when he was approached by three Hispanic men in a gold vehicle. At some point a passenger got out, pulled out a handgun and fired multiple times at the victim.

The suspect vehicle was last seen in the area of Lincoln Street and Broadis Street.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Watsonville police officers are investigating an attempted homicide after a man was shot near Lincoln Street and Freedom Boulevard on Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the scene before 7 p.m. and found several bullet casings.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital. No word yet on his condition.

Two suspects were reported leaving the area in a gold car.

The investigation is ongoing.
