Salinas man arrested for stealing $15,000 autographed Mike Tyson boxing belt

A Salinas man was arrested for stealing from homes in Fresno County and using a stolen car to do so. Among some of the items he allegedly took — an autographed Mike Tyson World Championship Boxing Belt valued at $15,000.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office started investigating on March 16, following reports of burglaries at three different locations, two homes and a store.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a Fresno County CHP officer responded to a car crash and found an abandoned car that was stolen from the Salinas Valley Ford auto dealership. The officer also found stolen items in the car and a sales slip from a local jewelry shop, Clovis Gold and Silver. The fingerprint on the sales slip belonged to suspect Ramee Ayesh, and the owner of Clovis Gold and Silver was in the process of appraising the boxing belt. The owner had also just purchased some jewelry that she did not know was stolen.

Detectives determined Ayesh was working at Salinas Valley Ford. The detectives drove down to Salinas and arrested him during his shift.

Ayesh was taken to the Fresno County Jail.

The Tyson boxing belt, and the majority of the other stolen property, including jewelry and electronics, was returned to the rightful owners.
