Pacific Grove High School student identified as suspect in Carmel High School bomb threat

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect in the Carmel High School Bomb threat back in February. The Sheriff’s Office said the 16-year-old male is a student and football player at Pacific Grove High School, a rival school. The Sheriff’s Office also said the threat stemmed from the schools’ annual rivalry “Shoe Game.”

According to authorities, the suspect posted the threat through a social media site called Ogle. Ogle was also used in threats directed toward several Santa Cruz County schools earlier this year. Some Central Coast schools have decided to shut their Ogle accounts down.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office to pursue charges, including calling in a false threat and terrorist threats.

Pacific Grove High School is holding an online etiquette class Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The class will be held at the Pacific Grove Performing Arts Center. On Wednesday, the same class will be held at 7 p.m. at the Carmel High Performing Arts Center.
