UPDATE: Man killed in crash on Highway 101 in Gonzales

UPDATE 4/1/2016 9:32 P.M.: A man was killed in a single car crash on Highway 101 in Gonzales.

According to Officer Jaime Rios with the California Highway Patrol, it happened on the southbound side of the highway at 6:35 p.m. Friday.

Officer Rios told KION the 33-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle flipped several times.

The driver died at the scene.

A four-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl were also in the vehicle.

One child was flown to a San Jose hospital with major injuries. The other child was taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved. Officers believe it may have been caused by some sort of medical situation, but officers are still investigating.
