13-year-old identified as suspect in King City school bomb threats

A suspect has been identified in the King City school bomb threats that shut down school twice last November.

On both November 4th and November 12th, the King City Union School District canceled school due to bomb threats that came into the 911 Communications Center.

One of the calls said, “Tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., Chalone Peaks will blow up.”

The King City Police Department worked with experts in cell phone technology to identify the phone used and the caller.

This week, those experts were able to identify the owner of the phone used. The suspect is a 13-year-old King City student.

The case will be sent to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.

KION’S Maya Holmes will have more on this story tonight.
