Salinas officer injured, one arrested after car chase

A Salinas police officer is injured after a car chase.

Officials say the suspect, 48-year-old Luis Perez was found in a stolen car in the area of Murphy Street around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

When officers tried to stop Perez, he took off, leading them on a chase.

He eventually lost control of the car in the area of E. Romie Lane and Los Palos Drive and purposely rammed into an officer’s vehicle.

Police say Perez tried to escape on foot, but was arrested after a struggle.

One officer was hurt while trying to make that arrest, but has since been released from a local hospital.
