Trees lose their grip with heavy rain

Monterey County Public Works spent a good part of the day picking up fallen trees and closing down roads.

They said heavy rain and humidity along with old, rotted roots is causing the trees to collapse onto roads.

MCPW also said if you see a downed tree do not go near it, instead call 911.
