Corallitos man hit by car remains in critical condition

A 46-year-old Corallitos man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car on Freedom Boulevard south of Valencia Road Sunday. The man was trying to remove wood debris from the southbound lane of Freedom Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, driver Dominic Cramer, 20, Scotts Valley, did not see the man in the roadway, but did try to avoid the wood debris. As Cramer swerved, the front of his car hit the man. Cramer was driving about 40 mph.

Cramer was not hurt and stopped at the scene. The pedestrian was flown to Valley Medical Center with major life-threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing, but the CHP said impaired driving does not appear to be a factor.
