UPDATE: Young man killed in Salinas shooting near Hacienda Grill

UPDATE 8/20/15: On Thursday, Salinas Police identified the 24-year-old man killed near Hacienda Grill early Sunday morning.

Officers said Juan Pablo Cisneros Lopez, 24, was shot and later died at Natividad Medical Center.

Police said a second victim was shot in the parking lot and he is in stable condition.

PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas police said a 24-year-old man died in the hospital after a shooting Saturday night. They also said another victim was hit, but is expected to survive following surgery.

Police said they responded to the Hacienda Grill at 1449 N. Davis Road last night. They found the 24-year-old conscious and breathing, and the second victim in a car with multiple gunshot wounds.

At this time, police are still trying to determine a motive. They said there are no known gang ties, but that both victims are known for buying and using drugs.

News Channel 5 spoke with the owner of Hacienda Saturday who said what happened has no connection to his business, but is still saddened by the news.

“It just gives a bad taste in everybody’s mouth. And when it strikes so close to your own business or to your home, or close to family members, and somebody loses their life… like that has a deep impact on everybody,” Salinas Hacienda Grill Owner Mike Hackett said.

Police said there were a number of people in the parking lot at the time of the shooting. They said witnesses described seeing a dark-colored or black Toyota or Mitsubishi sedan speed off from the parking lot.
