More than 20 people arrested in bi-county pot bust

Local, state and federal investigators made multiple arrests after busting two illegal marijuana grows Wednesday morning, according to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said one bust happened in the 400 block of Olympia Ave. in San Juan Bautista and the second happened in the 12000 block of Center Rd. in San Martin.

Deputies said both search warrants were executed around 7:00 a.m. with help from the DEA, San Benito County Probation, Monterey County SWAT, CHP, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain View Police, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Twenty people were detained in San Juan Bautista and two were detained in San Martin. Investigators said more people ran from both fields where about 30 acres of marijuana plants were growing between corn stalks.
