Lawn painting business boom in Santa Cruz County

A local man is making green by painting lawns green. Since starting Revival Lawn Painting last year, Brian Hamilton says business is growing. You could say, it’s growing like a week.

“From one lawn a week to moving up to five lawns this week,” Hamilton said. “And calls are rolling in for next week as well.”

He’s getting calls from homeowners and realtors with a very definite vision of the American Dream. All while dealing with the reality of drought.

“The fines for water,” Hamilton said. “And being in a drought and wanting to have a good looking yard are all combinations that is perfect for lawn painting.”

Businesses, even churches like Harbor Light in Santa Cruz are finding out — it’s easy being green, especially when the water bill arrives. Behind the church is a 5,000 square foot lawn. The pastor says it was costing over $100 a month just to water it.

“We’re going to save a lot of money on our water bill,” Pastor Charles Tuck said.

The difference in his water bill is black and white, or in this case, brown and green.

“It’s amazing,” Tuck said. “I’m just shocked by how beautiful it looks. It looks like a new lawn.”

There are quite a few lawn painting companies out there. Brian says before picking one, do your homework and be sure to check out their before and after pictures before making a decision.
