Elderly woman fends off assailants in attempted rape, robbery

An elderly woman is safe after scaring away attackers who allegedly tried to rape and rob her, after breaking into her home on Sunday night.

It happened in the 3700 block of Garrapatos Road in Big Sur.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, two Hispanic males entered the home armed with knives.

The woman told police the men attempted to rob and rape her, but she was able to scare them off with a firearm.

Police are still investigating the incident, pending identification of the suspects.
