Car thieves target specific types of cars and areas of Marina

Marina Police are investigating what they call a “crew” of car thieves targeting specific cars are areas of the city.

Investigators say during the weekend of August 7-9 there was a significant spike in reported stolen cars, particularly in the 200 block of Carmel Avenue and 3000 block of Del Monte Blvd.

Suspects seem to prefer 1990s Honda Accord or similar type vehicle, such as a 1990s Acura Integra.

The Marina Police Department is asking people to be aware and take precautions to secure and protect their vehicles, and any personal property left in the car.
