UPDATE: Salinas Police standoff for carjacking suspect ends, one unrelated arrest made

UPDATE 8/4/15 3:20 p.m.: Salinas Police said a male victim reported being carjacked near John St. and Monterey St. at a local hotel.

The victim told police the suspect held him at gunpoint and ran away, fearing for his life. Police said the victim was able get away safely and watched as the suspect drove off in his car.

Police said the victim was able to get a ride and followed the car to a home on Chestnut St., where the suspect then entered a home.

A perimeter was set up and a search for that suspect turned into a standoff as police worked to make the arrest.

Later police said they entered the home where they didn’t find the suspect but arrested someone else who was wanted for a felony.

PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas Police are on scene of a standoff that started about 11:00am on Chestnut Street.

Offices have been hailing three men hiding in a home and backyard area to come out with their hands up. So far a hand full of people have been able to safely leave the area of the house where officers are focused.

At least one person was taken into to custody in a police car on scene.

Chestnut Street is blocked off in the area of Pajaro and South Main Street.
