Man shot in Salinas expected to survive, police say

UPDATE 12:05 a.m.: A man got out of a parked green Dodge Neon on the 1200 block of Pacific Avenue Saturday night and, without saying anything, started shooting at two brothers with a handgun, police said.

One of the brothers, 25, was hit in the lower part of his body. The other victim, 23, was not hit. The 25-year-old was taken to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Just before the shooting, officers were called to the 200 block of Williams Road to a report of two men, between the ages of 18 to 19-years-old, armed with a handgun, police said. The suspects left before officers arrived.

“Witnesses said a green Dodge Neon and white Lexus were involved,” police said in a news release. “The shooting is being investigated as gang-related.”
