Livermore DUI crash suspect charged with murder in death of Seaside mom and baby

A suspect accused of hitting and killing a Seaside mother and baby at an apartment complex in Livermore earlier this month is back in jail on murder and DUI charges, according to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Brian Jones, 35, was arrested Thursday afternoon at a home in Fremont by Livermore Police. Jones is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of felony DUI causing injury.

Investigators said Jones was traveling at excessive speeds between 75 and 99 miles per hour through residential streets in Livermore before the crash.

Investigators said Jones failed to make a turn in the 900 block of Murrieta Blvd. and left the road, crashing into victims Eperanza Morales and her 14-month-old daughter Yuli. Morales and Yuli were walking on a pathway when they were hit, according to investigators.

Police said they determined Jones’ blood alcohol content was 0.14 percent at the time of the crash.

Jones was initially arraigned in Alameda County May 5. At that hearing, prosecutors asked for more time to investigate the case. Charges were not filed during that court appearance and Jones posted bail.
