Greenfield pulls possibility of medical marijuana dispensaries

The city of Greenfield has decided to pull the possibility of medical marijuana dispensaries and cultivation facilities.

During the last four months, the city explored the idea through the adoption of an ordinance. The proposed ordinance was consistent with the California Health and Safety Code.

According to the city, the proposed ordinance received a lot of positive feedback at first. But over the past month, those against the proposed ordinance expressed their concerns.

They mayor said he was moved by all of the speakers on the matter, but said it’s clear residents don’t support moving forward.

He also said focusing resources on the regulation of dispensaries and cultivation isn’t in the city’s best interest.
