Baby boy’s ashes stolen during home burglary in Marina, police say

A Marina family, who wishes to remain anonymous, is pleading for the public’s help after their baby son’s ashes are stolen during a burglary last week, police said.

This message was posted on Craigslist:

“To whoever broke into our home on May 12th in Marina. Please return our baby son’s ashes. It was taken out of his keepsake box with his picture and a white ribbon and angel charm. No questions asked if returned. Please return the ashes to the Marina Police, Fire Department or local mortuaries. This is the last link to our son. As a parent, losing a child is something you never get over, losing him twice is heartbreaking.”

The family reported the house was ransacked and several personal items were stolen, including the cremated remains of their baby son.

The Marina Police Department is encouraging the suspect or suspects to “do the right thing” and return the family’s ashes to police, to ensure they are returned to the family.

Anyone with information to contact the police department.
