Crackdown on DUI drivers during Monterey County sweep

Eight DUI suspects were arrested on Sunday during a sweep of drivers who failed to appear in court, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.

Investigators said they worked with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, Soledad Police, King City Police and DMV investigators to serve 54 arrest warrants in Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield, King City and surrounding areas.

Of those searches, investigators said eight people were arrested, including two felony arrests.

The sweep was initiated by a recently established group called the DUI Vertical Prosecution Unit to crack down on alleged DUI drivers who fail to follow the law.
