Thousands of gallons of water wasted due to broken fire hydrant in Salinas

Another broken fire hydrant released several thousand gallons of water into the air Thursday night.

According to the Salinas Fire Department, a semi-truck driver didn’t see the hydrant in the dark and the truck hit the hydrant.

It happened a little before 8:30 p.m. on Harris Place in Salinas.

The water was flowing for about 40 minutes before crews were able to shut it off.
