Prunedale fire burns 2 acres, crews say

Fire crews said 2 acres worth of brush caught on fire Tuesday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. in Prunedale near Harrison Road.

Crews from CAL FIRE, Salinas and North Monterey County Fire responded to the incident. One air tanker and a helicopter were called out to help.

Firefighters said the flames were contained around 5 p.m. They will continue mopping up the area.

Crews said three structures were threatened and a nearby fence was damaged. High winds and dry conditions caused the fire to spread quickly, crews said.
