Police looking for suspect wanted for an armed robbery at Subway

The Santa Cruz Police Department is searching for the suspect involved in an armed robbery at Subway.

According to police, a man entered a Subway on Soquel Avenue Monday morning and demanded cash from an employee. The suspect was armed with a handgun.

The suspect then left the store with the cash. No one was hurt during the robbery.

The suspect is described as an African American man with a thin build. He is between 50 to 60 years of age. He was last seen wearing a dark blue jacket and carrying a red shoulder bag.

Police believe the suspect may connected to several other robberies in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.

A suspect with a matching description robbed a Subway in Capitola and Salinas. Investigators believe the man could also be tied to a See’s Candies robbery, as well as robberies at Room for Dessert and Kara’s Cupcakes in Monterey.

The Santa Cruz Police Department is now working with other law enforcement agencies in Salinas and Monterey to catch the suspect.
