UPDATE: Man wanted for gun arsenal in Hollister turns himself into police

UPDATE 5/8/2015: Hollister police said the man wanted for an arsenal of guns turned himself in on Thursday.

Officers said Patrick Barraza turned himself into police at the office of his attorney.

Barraza was taken to the San Benito County Jail where he was booked on firearms charges.

PREVIOUS STORY: On Monday, Hollister Police, San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, county probation, the UNET team, and U.S. Marshals seized several illegal weapons and ammunition during a morning raid.

Over the course of several weeks, investigators developed intelligence related to a large amount of firearms stored in the Hollister area. The information claimed that firearms were being stored for use by gang members.

A search warrant was served on Monday at 8:00 a.m. at a home near the 1500 block of McCloskey Road. Investigators said 47-year-old Patrick Barraza was not
home at the time but three family members were in the home.

Officers and agents found 15 rifles, including three AK-47/SKS assault rifles, and three handguns. They also found three ballistic vests, several bags filled with high capacity magazines including at least one 100 round magazine.

Police estimate over 3,000 rounds of ammunition were also recovered in boxes and bags along with the firearms.

Patrick Barraza is still on the loose and is wanted, he is considered armed and dangerous.
