UPDATE: Missing Salinas man found safe, CHP says

UPDATE 1:27 p.m.: California Highway Patrol said Herbert Nesnith Casey, 87, was found safe. The silver alert for his whereabouts has been cancelled.

PREVIOUS STORY: A silver alert has been issued for a Salinas man missing and at-risk, according to California Highway Patrol.

The alert for Herbert Nesnith Casey, 87, was issued by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators said Casey was last seen Sunday at about 4 a.m. at a gas station in Forest, Mississippi. They said his credit or debit card was used Wednesday in Menifee, California. Investigators think he may be headed to his home in Salinas.

Casey is described as a white male, with gray hair, blue or hazel eyes, about 5 foot 9 tall and weighing about 210 pounds. Investigators said Casey may be wearing light blue jeans and a light colored polo shirt. Casey was driving a blue 2014 GMC Sierra with a California license plate of 85818M1.

Investigators said Casey suffers from a medical condition and may become disoriented.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police.
