Lawmakers bill could waive fees for Corinthian Colleges students

In response to the closing of Heald College locations across the state, California lawmakers have introduced a bill that would allow students to go to a community college for free.

Thousands of students are being affected by the closure of Heald, Everest and Wyotech campuses. Now two assembly members have introduced a bill to help those students get back in school.

The bill would waive fees for all California students affected by the closure of Corinthian Colleges. It would also provide a grant of $100 per student to help them get legal aid to get out of their current student loans.

Right now Wyotech and Everest students are already eligible for tuition recovery but Heald students are not. This bill would change that.

If the bill passes it would also establish a closed schools task force, which would give students heads up information if and when a school may be closing. But the bill is still in the very early stages.
