Celebs take over AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Round one of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am ended with Justin Hicks and J.B. Holmes tied for first. As of Thursday night, there was a six-way tie for third place.

One of those players is John Daly and his celeb partner is former coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets Herm Edwards. Now you can catch him on ESPN as a sports analyst.

Most people here on the Central Coast may will be rooting for Edwards because he is a local. He grew up in Seaside and went to Monterey High School. He said he’s happy to be playing this year and just trying to keep up with the pros. We asked him about what it was like to be home for this tournament.

“It is always good to come I’ve got roots here, my daughters went to school here so it is always good to come back,” Edwards said.

He also has a beautiful home up at Tehama he is building. We asked Edwards and Daly about their outfits. Daly is known for bright crazy pants so he had to dress herm up for the occasion.

“He said coach would you wear some of my stuff I said absolutely and it gets even louder tomorrow I’m nervous because tomorrow it’s getting real loud,” Daly said. “He actually looks better in those things he has a butt I don’t have a butt so he fills those things up a little bit better than I do but no he said he loved them he couldn’t believe how comfortable they were.”

Daly said he had a great day on the course and the pants are bringing him and Edwards good luck.

NewsChannel 5 also spoke with a lot of other celebrities at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Well known veterans of the event were there including Andy Garcia, Kenny G, Kelly Slater and Ray Romano. Romano took in the sights.

“Ah. How can you go wrong?” Romano said.

He joked his caddy scared away the deer.
