Seaside gang members arrested during search on Friday

Gang-enforcement officers on the Monterey Peninsula, from three different departments, worked to make two arrests on Friday.

Officers said Jason Magallanes, 18 and Gerardo Salmeron, 19, were arrested during a search warrant in the 1100 block of Phoenix Avenue in Seaside. During the search, officers found a loaded firearm, gang indicia, controlled pills and evidence of marijuana sales.

Officers with Seaside police, Monterey police and the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT) worked on the case where they said gang members are known to hang out.

Investigators said Salmeron and Magallanes are both known gang members and were booked in the Monterey County Jail. Salmeron is being held on charges of possession of a loaded firearm and gang enhancement. Magallanes is being held on probation violation and evidence of marijuana sales.
