Huntington charged with murder in Monterey stabbing death

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office has charged Matt Huntington, 44, with first-degree murder. He’s accused of stabbing Tara deSousa, 50, in her Monterey home last week.

Police said Huntington led them on a chase and jumped off a single-story building. He landed on the sidewalk at Lighthouse Avenue and Reeside Street and is still in critical condition. The DA’s office said he was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday but it will be continued.
