Fire destroys two homes off Highway 68 Monday morning

UPDATE: CalFire said one house and a back unit are destroyed in an early morning fire on Highway 68 near Josselyn Canyon.

Three people were inside the home but evacuated before fire crews arrived.

Firefighters said a neighbor helped with the evacuation. All three residents plan to stay with friends

PREVIOUS STORY: Firefighters said a car caught fire in the carport of a house off Highway 68 Monday morning, engulfing two homes around 5:30 a.m. Neighbors saw the fire and alerted the residents. No one was hurt, but both houses are a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
