Toy donations stolen from two sites

Toy donations intended for children in need this holiday season were stolen according to Toys for Tots program coordinator in Santa Cruz County.

Delilah Valdez said toy donations from two public collection points were stolen last week just before Thanksgiving.

“With so many residents distracted with Thanksgiving preparations and visiting families, and our natural tendencies to believe the best in each other,” reported Valdez in a written statement “donated gifts fell into the wrong hands.”

She says the suspect or suspects drove up to the sites, one in Aptos and the other in the Santa Cruz, left with all toys and left the bins empty.

Valdez asks anyone with information about the stolen toys to alert Toys for Tots representatives or notify police.
