Santa Cruz Sheriff deputy vehicle involved in accident in Watsonville

A Sheriff security officer driving a department SUV was involved in a 4-car pile-up late Thursday afternoon in Watsonville.

CHP officers say the accident happened at Highway 1 south at the Main St. on-ramp just before 4:00p.m. No major injuries were reported. The officer is stationed on the Cabrillo College campus.

No word on how the accident happened or if it was weather related, but scattered showers were in the area around the time of the accident.

The Main St. on-ramp was re-opened just before 6:00p.m.
