Boy found and arrested in faked abduction

The 14-year-old, boy at the center of an Amber Alert on Monday has been found and arrested. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department released a statement saying the abduction claim was fabricated, and Sergio Vazquez has been turned over to Calaveras County Juvenile Probation.

A school superintendent says it appears Vasquez walked to a gas station during a break from class, and never came back.

The Amber Alert has been deactivated in the following counties: Calaveras, Tuolumne, Amador, Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Sacramento, Alameda, Contra Costa, Yolo, Solano, El Dorado, and Merced.
