Moss Landing man’s temper tantrum results in vandalism conviction

A Moss Landing man who got angry at his mother after she refused to buy him a bottle of wine has been found guilty of felony vandalism.

Jacob Pendo, 31, also was convicted of a misdemeanor for damaging a wireless communication device with the intent to prevent that device from being used to summon the assistance of law enforcement.

Prosecutors said Pendo became enraged at his mother in April when she refused to buy him a bottle of wine at his request. In retaliation, he jumped up and down on the roof of her 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, causing some $4,000 in damages.

Pendo’s mother tried to call 911 but he took her cellphone and threw it across the street, breaking it.

Pendo faces up to three years in prison when he’s sentenced on Dec. 2.
