Garner Ave fire leaves families homeless

multiple families are homeless tonight after a large fire rips through an apartment complex in salinas. good evening i’m jacqueline tualla. it’s a developing story tonight… after the blaze sparked around 3 this afternoon. this was the scene in the 13-hundred block of garner avenue. multiple apartments were engulfed in flames when crews arrived on scene. it took 14 engines and 80 fire fighters to knock the blaze out. 46:40 “it’s much too early to tell you what the cause of this fire is. we’ll be here throughout the night probably into tomorrow investigating the fire attempting to determine the cause.” fire fighters say wind played a factor in the spread of the fire. the red cross is helping the families find shelter tonight.
