Two kids born after SPCA rescues emaciated goats from King City area

Two female baby goats were born to a mother rescued from a King City property last month, the SPCA for Monterey County announced.

SPCA spokeswoman Beth Brookhouser said staff are bottle-feeding the baby goats around the clock while the mother continues to recover from neglect.

The mother goat was one of 13 rescued from the South County property on Sept. 18, along with six dogs, 13 sheep and one burro, Brookhouser said. All of the animals were emaciated.

An additional dog and numerous sheep were found dead on the property. The case has been submitted to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of criminal charges.

The SPCA also is seeking experienced goat lovers interested in possibly fostering. Email info@spcamc.org for more information.
