Fire crews battle pallet fire near Gilroy

Several fire agencies responded to a large pallet fire near Gilroy Wednesday morning.

So far, fire crews say only agricultural equipment has been damaged, but they continue to battle the blaze with a lack of water supplies.

Crews say they’re having trouble fighting the flames because there are no water hydrants in the rural area where the fire is. They are going back and forth into the City of Gilroy to gather enough water to fight the fire.

Residents near the area of the fire were evacuated and were expected to be let back into their homes later in the day. Crews expect to battle the fire for several hours.
