Former UC Santa Cruz student reported missing; car found in Watsonville

A former UC Santa Cruz student has been reported missing and Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies say his car was found in Watsonville.

A relative of Ryan Jacobs reported him as missing to the Bakersfield Police Department on Aug. 26. Jacobs, a 24-year-old Bakersfield resident, reportedly has medical issues that place him at risk if not treated.

Last week, his car was found, locked and without the keys, on Riverside Drive in Watsonville. There was no sign of foul play.

The 2012 Toyota Yaris was found by deputies on Oct. 9, but nearby residents claimed the car had been parked in the same location for about two months.

Deputies searched the immediate area but were unable to locate Jacobs.

He previously attended UCSC and is familiar with the Santa Cruz area, deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to immediately contact dispatch at 471-1121.
