Officer injured in traffic collision Monday

A traffic accident Monday evening sent two people to the hospital in Salinas, including a police officer.

Police say a truck ran through a red light at the intersection of San Juan Grade Road and East Boronda Road, striking the patrol car and another vehicle.

Both the patrol car and the other vehicle struck suffered major damage from the accident.

The officer and the driver of the other victim’s vehicle were sent to the hospital with injuries.

Both were later released.
